What to expect in Term 2 in Year 4:
We will continue to learn the column mehod for both addition and subtraction. We will work with numbers up to 4 digits and will learn how to 'borrow' and 'regroup'.
Later on in the term we will be looking at measurement (mainly length and perimeter) and also methods for multiplication and division.
Our text for the start of the term is 'The Firework Maker's Daughter' by Philip Pulman. The children have already started by looking at authorial intent, explaining why they think the author has chosen certain words and their effect on the reader. They have also impressed us with their knowledge and use of adjectives and nouns!
We start the term by looking at Prayers, Saints and Feasts. We then finish by studying Advent and what this really means at this time of year-how should we be preparing?
