New Home Learning - Summer 2 Week 6

Dear parents and children of year 4,

It was amazing to see so many of you in school this week and I cannot wait until next Wednesday when I get to see so many of you again! It was lovely to hear about what makes you happy and see the items that you had placed inside of your happiness box. This coming week we will be sharing the reflective activity, sharing a short 2 minute presentation on something you have learned, conquered or practiced. If you don't want to give a presentation that is fine of course, but if you do you can bring in anything that would help you when sharing.

This is week 2 of the home learning challenge and Maths and English are not compulsary learning, but I know from what you have been sharing that some of you are still loving this learning, so there will be some on the class page for you to have a go at!

Please send in any of your creations from the challenges and I look forward to getting to see you again and learn even more about what you have been up to!

Kind Regards,

Mr. Painter

Our New Home Learning!

Dear parents and children of year 4,

I hope you had another great week of learning and enjoyed writing adventure stories, exploring different 2D shapes and taking a trip to various rainforests around the world!

This week our home learning is taking a different format, it is now the 'Home Learning Lockdown Challenge'. There are a set of challenges for you to have a go at, that focus on happiness through exploring your creativity, getting lots of exercise and using all of your senses.

Maths and English are not compulsary learning from this point but for those of you who LOVE one of these 2 subjects or are in a good routine and need to keep those subjects going, I have posted some English and Maths learning.

Please send in any of your creations from the challenges and I look forward to getting to see all of your happiness boxes!

Kind Regards,

Mr. Painter

Summer 2: Week 4 Home Learning

Dear parents and children of year 4,

On to week 4 of our home learning and I hope you have had a lot of fun, both in your learning and your free time! Once again the weather has been very sporadic across the week, so I hope you got outside whenever you could, just like we have been in school.

Maths is another Plan Bee scheme this week that has been used in school for many years and focuses on shape, with a recap on area and perimeter. English will be continuing our adventure story writing with a focus on the spy story, 'Mission Possible'. I know a few of you may of whizzed through this learning and completed it already, so for those of you in this position I would recommend working through either this week or last weeks Oak academy activities.

I am missing you more and more with every week that passes year 4 and it is always uplifting to receive some of your work or even just an update on how you are.

I hope your week is great once again!

Kind regards,

Mr. Painter

Summer 2: Week 3 Home Learning

Dear parents and children of year 4,

I hope everyone had another great week of home learning and is staying as positive as you can, showing love to those around you.

Our learning this week has a few changes but think a lot of you will find these beneficial. In Maths we are moving away from White Rose Hub this week as they are repeating the same content and instead we are doing some learning on time! This is a great topic as it is an essential life skill and parents, you can ask what the time is constantly! (Endless learning opportunities) The sheets are on the class page and they come with slides. I have given a guideline but you can choose the activities that you think would be best or even come up with your own!

In English we are taking a step away from Oak Academy for a couple of weeks to look at a Talk4Writing pack produced in the style of Pie Corbett, a sequence we follow in school! There are a huge number of activities and they can all be done independently, so either follow my recommended order or choose your favourites up to the assigned point. The whole pack is on the class page and doesn't require printing if you have access to a screen to view each activity.

I hope you have another great week!

Kind regards,

Mr. Painter

Summer 2: Week 2 Home Learning

Dear Parents and children of year 4,

I hope you have had a good first week back to learning and are ready for week 2 of our 2nd half of the Summer term! I have had a lot of fun finding different activities this week for you to have a go at in your learning. The Pound Arts Centre have an amazing activity available at the moment, building a 'fold up' town; so I can't wait to see how you get on with this!

The Maths is a topic we have covered in school so I am sure many of you will enjoy this weeks learning, adding and subtracting with fractions! Push yourself by creating your own challenge questions, or by using some of the extra questions on the class page.

Lots of you have enjoyed researching different events, or famous figures and so this week I have made this a focus of our learning pack. We will of course be focusing on some of the amazing good news stories that are around at the moment.

I hope you all have a lovely week of learning and if you need any help or advice, contact me through the school admin email,

Kind Regards,

Mr. Painter

Dear parents and children of year 4,

Hope you have all had a good start to the week and are enjoying this weeks learning! The weather is not looking quite as nice but i'm sure you have plenty to do inside as well.

A quick reminder about school photographs. If these could be sent into the school admin email as soon as you can that would be fantastic. Keep all those amazing videos and pictures of your work coming too; you may even be given a shout out in my next video!

Week 3 Home Learning

Dear parents and children of year 4,

I hope everyone is doing well this week and had a good time last week filled with both learning and of course fun! It was amazing to catch up with you all on the phone and it was really interesting to hear about all of the interesting and creative activities you have been up to. A continuing message from me regarding all of the work videos and images of what you have been doing.... keep sending them in! (I am so proud of all the amazing creations and learning, just as i'm sure you are!)

A quick reminder that you do not need to print of the white rose sheets as they can be completed in your text books.

Below is a link to this weeks maths learning if you are finding the learning too challenging (as discussed on the phone). The sheets can be downloaded from the website. There is also an alternative reading comprehension activity but for this week I would recommend having a go at the activity in the pack first.

Kind Regards,

Mr Painter

Home Learning Summer 1 Week 3

Week 2 Home learning

Dear Parents and Children of year 4,

I hope this message finds you all well and ready for our second week of term! I have taken some of the comments onboard from last weeks home learning and have made a few beneficial changes. It has been amazing to receive so many images of your work as well as videos of your learning! I have even received some post and I must say I am completely out of space on my walls and fridge... your artwork is everywhere! Please keep it coming though as I have many more walls to decorate and the website will soon have it's very own gallery so that your creativity can be celebrated.

A quick note on the home learning activities - You do not need to print out all of the White Rose Hub sheets across any of the coming weeks. These can be completed either by having a copy of the sheet up on a mobile device/ computer or they could be scribed down for your child to undertake the learning in their exercise book. If you need another book to work from, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Below are sheets for those who are finding the reading comprehension too challenging.

There is also a link to the White Rose Hub for years 2 and 3 for those who are struggling with the year 4 learning objectives. The activity sheets can be downloaded from the site.

Kind Regards,

Mr. Painter

Update on the Maths Home learning

Hello year 4, I hope you are all safe and having a good first week back to learning.

On the home learning sheet provided I have given descriptions for the learning that is to come in the next few weeks. This was an accident and I appologise for any confusion this has caused. The lessons for this week are the week 1 lessons at the top of the page provided below and they link with the sheets I have posted on this page.

Once again I appologise for any confusion this has caused and I hope not too many of you have ended up doing double the work.
