This term we have introduced a new whole school initiative based on the ’10 A Day Choices towards balancing our mental health’ poster which has been shared with us from the Early Help 4 Mental Health Team. At St. Patricks Catholic Primary school we value the importance of a healthy mind as well as a healthy body and so are very excited to have this child friendly poster as the basis to start our balanced mental health journey!
For the rest of the year each class will choose two badges from the poster (see above) and as a class decide how to achieve that particular badge, e.g. Badge 10 ‘Actively Care For Others’ the children could write a letter to the residents of Hungerford House. Or, Badge 1 ‘Talk about your feelings’ each class could decide to have a worry box.
Once the children’s ideas have been finalised they are then encouraged to write their ideas down on a ‘Class Pledge’ and monitor throughout the term. We want it to be as child initiated as possible to so that the children develop their own strategies in being able to promote their own positive mental health.
It would be fantastic if you could join in at home and would love to hear how you got on!
