School Closure Notice

Dear Parents and Carers,

School Closure Due to Extreme Heat Warning

Following the issue of a Red Heat Warning for Corsham and forecasts predicting temperatures of up to 38°C, we have taken the decision to close the school on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

This decision has not been made lightly and has been made in consultation with the governing body.

In periods of extreme heat, children are at increased risk of heat-related illness, and we also have concerns for the wellbeing of babies, younger siblings and other family members who may be collecting children from school during the hottest parts of the day. Despite the measures we can put in place, we do not believe that we can adequately ensure the safety and comfort of all children and staff in such exceptional conditions.

At present, we expect the school to reopen as normal on Friday 26 June. However, we will continue to monitor weather forecasts and official guidance and will update parents promptly should the situation change.

We appreciate that this closure may present challenges for families, and we are grateful for your understanding and support. As always, our priority must be the safety and wellbeing of our children, staff and wider school community.

School is open as normal today, with provision in place to keep our children safe.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

Jennie Courtney
