Welcome back to Summer Term 2!

Can you believe we have nearly reached the end of the academic year?  We still have a very busy 7 weeks to get through, with lots of learning and growing to do.

Our theme this term is ‘Amazing Africa’. We will be looking at ‘Handa’s Surprise' and ‘Anna Hibiscus Song’.  We will learn all about Africa and how it is different to our country.

In Maths, we are going to strengthen our calculation skills and develop our shape knowledge.  In ‘Understanding the World’ we are continuing to look at different countries.  We will be learning new songs and different African dance routines in Expressive Arts. Take a look at the Summer Term Two learning web for more details. This term, we will be holding our Class Tea AND class assembly and we'd love to see you at both events.

Eastertide Celebration - Unfortunately the video will not upload - ask Miss Jones to see it.

The summer term is here! Where has this year gone?

Welcome back everyone - I hope you all had a restful and happy Easter! This term, we are going to continue the great learning by exploring the different types of ‘Growing’. To inspire us in our learning we will be starting with the books ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and ‘A tiny seed by Eric Carle’.  This term, we will plant lots of seeds so we will be observing those and looking for similarities and differences in the growth. In maths, the children will explore addition and subtraction and capacity. In Religion, we will continue to discuss and learn about the events which took place in Holy Week. We will also look at different faiths and talk about the similarities and differences between communities and faiths.

Thank you for all the Home Learning that you're doing with your children, particularly reading. The children are clearly making great progress.

Please take a look at the Summer Term 1 learning web for more information about our term ahead. We have lots of exciting things planned.

Are you spring term ready?

I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and are now feeling excited about Spring Term 4. This term we will be learning about ‘Superheroes’ and we will start the term with ‘Supertato’ by Sue Hendra. Open up the Spring term 4 learning web to see our exciting plans! You will also find a new copy of our class timetable as well as challenging vocabulary that you can practise at home with your child. Please ensure your child is practising phonics and key words at home so that they are embedding their new learning.

This term in our Gem Project we are continuing to work on our Ruby Power which is supporting others and giving praise. The class will also continue to use their Diamond Power and develop their independence skills and show that they can solve their own problems. Please promote this at home – can your child get dressed by themselves?

PE will be on Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure children have both indoor and outdoor PE kits in school.

We have an open door policy so, if you have any questions, concerns or ideas, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to working with you all in the new term.

Curriculum Afternoon for Reception Class (take a look if you haven't already)!

We met our buddies today! We had lots of fun :)

What a brilliant three days we have had! The staff in Reception Class are so proud of our new, little stars and so pleased to see them settle this week!

This term our topic is ‘All About Me’. This is a great opportunity for your children to tell us all about themselves, what they enjoy/dislike and about the special people in their lives. We will be looking at a range of story books to support our topic. The first story book we will enjoy is ‘Monkey Puzzle’ by Julia Donaldson.

Please take a look at our Learning Web (in the curriculum folder) to find out more about the upcoming term.

I hope to see you all at the curriculum afternoon on the 24th September at 2.15pm.
