Year 2
Welcome to Term 3 in Year 2.
We hope you have had an enjoyable and relaxing break!
This term we will be learning about the Great Fire of London and writing poems!
Mrs Solomon will be teaching in class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Miss Knight will be in class on Thursday and Fridays. Miss Jones will return from maternity leave on Monday 2nd of February. She will then teach Mondays and Tuesdays and Mrs Solomon will teach Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Home Learning In Year 2Home learning will continue to be set on Google classroom each week. Children will be given assignments in maths and spellings with occasional additional enrichment activities. Professor Assessor will be set on Wednesdays/Thursdays and will have a week to be completed. . In addition, the children will be able to use the ‘Times Tables Fun’ system on their Professor Assessor login. Spellings will be uploaded for the term on Google Classroom and a paper copy will be given out too. This is how we encourage the children to learn their spellings:

COVER the word
WRITE the word
CHECK their spelling against the word.
Reading
Your child will continue to bring home a reading book every day to share with you. 'Free Reading’ books may be chosen from the class library or from home. Please encourage your child to choose books that are a little challenging for them to read. Comics and easy books are also great to read as they can improve comprehension skills and give ideas for story writing, but they will not stretch their vocabulary and reading ability. Please encourage your child to read with expression, and to express opinions about the characters in the story, the plot, and what might happen next. Reading books and reading record should be brought to school each day. Reading books are always changed on a Monday.
Water Bottles
Please ensure your child brings a named bottle to school every day, filled with water. The children are allowed to fill their water bottles up during the day if they run out. Please ensure water bottles are taken home regularly and washed.
